McKnight’s Senior Living highlights LeadingAge’s new COVID vaccine grant initiative with HHS’ We Can Do This campaign (“Providers to Receive $250,000 for COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics“), the latest in our ongoing efforts focused on keeping older adults and communities healthy.  Quoting LeadingAge president and CEO Katie Smith Sloan, “Even as the COVID public health emergency nears its end, aging services providers remain committed to protecting the health and safety of the people they care for and serve,”  the story includes the link provider members can use to request up to $15,000 to support vaccine clinic activities in their communities. Application deadline: February 24, 2023.

As part of our ongoing efforts to support members, LeadingAge has further expanded our partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the We Can Do This campaign to provide LeadingAge members a new grant opportunity for executing vaccine clinics in an effort to boost updated vaccine uptake for staff, residents, family members, and others in the community. Funds are available and HHS is anxious to see vaccine clinics start immediately.

LeadingAge continues to report weekly to HHS on All Hands on Deck, outlining all Association activity in support of the partnership forged with HHS and AHCA/NCAL to increase nursing home uptake of bivalent boosters.

Free COVID tests are offered for ALL provider settings through a growing LeadingAge and HHS partnership. A new, easy-access ordering form is provided on LeadingAge.org. 

Free COVID tests for Section 202 Housing providers are arranged for LeadingAge members through a partnership with the departments of Housing and Development (HUD) and Health & Human Services (HHS) in an easy-to-use ordering portal.

Communications messaging guidance is released by LeadingAge to help members with new strategies for talking with residents, family members and friends, and staff about the importance of staying up-to-date on vaccines—to include state-specific assets, graphics and social assets, and tips for how to spread the word.

LeadingAge creates The All Hands on Deck hub to help keep LeadingAge members up-to-date on the developments, partnerships, and activity of this critical initiative. 

LeadingAge successfully advocates for the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to change policy that enables long-term care providers to administer COVID-19 vaccines to all residents and staff. Find more information and resources here. 

As COVID-19 cases increase and the threat of a tripledemic looms, aging services leader Katie Smith Sloan announced a range of initiatives and partnerships that LeadingAge is undertaking in collaboration with the Biden Administration to support the  White House COVID-19 Winter Preparedness Plan, also released today.

The White House releases a plan with focused efforts on making vaccinations, testing, and treatments even more widely available and accessible as COVID-19 cases increase through the winter.

LeadingAge awards all of the $80,000 for grant funding to members as part of our ongoing partnership with Community Catalyst and the Vaccine Equity and Access Program (VEAP), a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) initiative.
